I purchased this book on a whim. I was looking for something I could curl up and dive into, but I didn’t want a self-help book. I stumbled across this gem, and I am so glad I did. Kat Medina’s writing transported me to her adventures all over the world, and my favorite part was she would bring me back to my reality. I would stop and think about certain situations in my life and see them from another perspective. More times than not, I found myself reading a sentence, putting the book down, and saying, “well. That is now very eye-opening when XYZ was taking place”. While I am no world traveler, I can relate to how laid back and free I feel on vacation. I’ve applied some of her tactics in my everyday life, which has truly changed my mindset. I feel lighter. I am by no means perfect, but when I need a little reminder, I can turn to the tabbed pages from this book and feel a sense of refresh and calm, knowing I can see life through a different lens. It’s up to me to do it.

Not your typical motivational, self help book at all! The idea of feeling the feelings of curiosity, adventure, and letting go that come with traveling is something I constantly crave. This book gives you practical advice for how to get past your self created day-to-day BS (yes, you’re the one creating it), expecting and accepting the mundane, and reframing your mindset to achieve the same wonder and inner joy in your every day world. Kat makes it easy to find ways that you can actually achieve these methods rather than lofty suggestions of meditating for hours on end or things that take up huge chunks of your day. Definitely for the person who needs to open their eyes to see that the world around them can be as intriguing, mysterious, and beautiful as what we see when we travel.

A beautifully written book, you can feel the heart and soul the author put into the book. Insightful, inspiring and with humor. With a new year approaching it’s the perfect time to read and take away the advice she has given. Who wouldn’t want to seek more everyday joy?! The travel stories transport you, absolutely magnificent.

After looking forward to reading Kat Medina's Joysetter newsletter every month, I was excited to learn that she had a book out. Of course I bought it, and found that she brings her sharp wit and wisdom to even greater depths in this book. I savored reading it, and I know I will return to it again and again.
