Is Tiffany Wallace leaving FBI?

Although we don’t know for sure, Kane teased in an interview with TVLine that the season finale will be a “very, very turbulent, shocking” episode for Wallace. The episode’s official synopsis reads: “The Somalian terrorist group behind the death of Agent Hobbs resurfaces, sending the team on a chase to take them down for good.” FBI revisited this storyline a few episodes prior in the April 9 episode, titled “Phantom.” During the episode, Wallace was convinced that the leader of the group, Hakim Siran (returning guest star Antwayn Hopper), was back in the United States. The special agent then became fixated on tracking him down and even when against orders to get some answers, which almost cost the team the case they were working on.

“We were really worried about Tiffany,” Kane said about her character’s past actions. “It shocked me a bit when I first read it, to see how much it was bending her out of shape.” She added that Wallace will handle her face-off with Hakim a little differently this time around in the finale, noting: “She’s done a lot of work on herself between then and now, and change doesn’t come overnight, but I think we’ll absolutely see her approaching this case and her work with her team with a lot more grace, a little bit more wisdom.”

Not Her Too! FBI Lays the Groundwork for the Loss of a Key Team Member in the Finale (3)Although Wallace seems to have a better grasp on her emotions, fans can’t help but wonder if her guilt over Hobbs’ death will get the best of her in the finale. Perhaps during this final showdown with Hakim, she will defy orders yet again and get herself fired, or worse, killed.

More: Why Trevor Hobbs left FBI

Since FBI has already earned a rare three-season renewal deal andKane has not indicated that she is leaving the show, we suspect that Wallace will make it out of this episode alive. She might have a reduced role on Season 7, though, as every series regular across FBI and FBI: Most Wanted will have their minimum episode guarantees trimmed as part of a cost-saving measure. Although the actors are only getting cut from two episodes each, it is still something the writers will have to keep in mind when working out the characters’ storylines. One way to work around this for Wallace is to have the special agent face disciplinary action. We could see Special Agent in Charge Isobel Castille (Alana De La Garza) placing her on a mandatory leave of absence if she disobeys orders again in the finale. Isobel previously scrutinized Wallace for going off on her own in Episode 8, so she’s definitely keeping a close eye on the situation.

FBI airs on CBS on Tuesdays at 9 p.m. EST and streams on Paramount+.
