Lamentations 3:22–33 NRSV - The steadfast love… | Biblia (2024)

22The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases,b

his mercies never come to an end;

23they are new every morning;

great is your faithfulness.

24“The Lord is my portion,” says my soul,

“therefore I will hope in him.”

25The Lord is good to those who wait for him,

to the soul that seeks him.

26It is good that one should wait quietly

for the salvation of the Lord.

27It is good for one to bear

the yoke in youth,

28to sit alone in silence

when the Lord has imposed it,

29to put one’s mouth to the dust

(there may yet be hope),

30to give one’s cheek to the smiter,

and be filled with insults.

31For the Lord will not

reject forever.

32Although he causes grief, he will have compassion

according to the abundance of his steadfast love;

33for he does not willingly afflict

or grieve anyone.

Lamentations 3:22–33 — The New International Version (NIV)

22Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed,

for his compassions never fail.

23They are new every morning;

great is your faithfulness.

24I say to myself, “The Lord is my portion;

therefore I will wait for him.”

25The Lord is good to those whose hope is in him,

to the one who seeks him;

26it is good to wait quietly

for the salvation of the Lord.

27It is good for a man to bear the yoke

while he is young.

28Let him sit alone in silence,

for the Lord has laid it on him.

29Let him bury his face in the dust—

there may yet be hope.

30Let him offer his cheek to one who would strike him,

and let him be filled with disgrace.

31For no one is cast off

by the Lord forever.

32Though he brings grief, he will show compassion,

so great is his unfailing love.

33For he does not willingly bring affliction

or grief to anyone.

Lamentations 3:22–33 — English Standard Version (ESV)

22The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases;

his mercies never come to an end;

23they are new every morning;

great is your faithfulness.

24“The Lord is my portion,” says my soul,

“therefore I will hope in him.”

25The Lord is good to those who wait for him,

to the soul who seeks him.

26It is good that one should wait quietly

for the salvation of the Lord.

27It is good for a man that he bear

the yoke in his youth.

28Let him sit alone in silence

when it is laid on him;

29let him put his mouth in the dust—

there may yet be hope;

30let him give his cheek to the one who strikes,

and let him be filled with insults.

31For the Lord will not

cast off forever,

32but, though he cause grief, he will have compassion

according to the abundance of his steadfast love;

33for he does not afflict from his heart

or grieve the children of men.

Lamentations 3:22–33 — King James Version (KJV 1900)

22It is of the Lord’s mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not.

23They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.

24The Lord is my portion, saith my soul; therefore will I hope in him.

25The Lord is good unto them that wait for him, to the soul that seeketh him.

26It is good that a man should both hope and quietly wait for the salvation of the Lord.

27It is good for a man that he bear the yoke in his youth.

28He sitteth alone and keepeth silence, because he hath borne it upon him.

29He putteth his mouth in the dust; if so be there may be hope.

30He giveth his cheek to him that smiteth him: he is filled full with reproach.

31For the Lord will not cast off for ever:

32But though he cause grief, yet will he have compassion according to the multitude of his mercies.

33For he doth not afflict willingly nor grieve the children of men.

Lamentations 3:22–33 — New Living Translation (NLT)

22The faithful love of the Lord never ends!

His mercies never cease.

23Great is his faithfulness;

his mercies begin afresh each morning.

24I say to myself, “The Lord is my inheritance;

therefore, I will hope in him!”

25The Lord is good to those who depend on him,

to those who search for him.

26So it is good to wait quietly

for salvation from the Lord.

27And it is good for people to submit at an early age

to the yoke of his discipline:

28Let them sit alone in silence

beneath the Lord’s demands.

29Let them lie face down in the dust,

for there may be hope at last.

30Let them turn the other cheek to those who strike them

and accept the insults of their enemies.

31For no one is abandoned

by the Lord forever.

32Though he brings grief, he also shows compassion

because of the greatness of his unfailing love.

33For he does not enjoy hurting people

or causing them sorrow.

Lamentations 3:22–33 — The New King James Version (NKJV)

22Through the Lord’s mercies we are not consumed,

Because His compassions fail not.

23They are new every morning;

Great is Your faithfulness.

24“The Lord is my portion,” says my soul,

“Therefore I hope in Him!”

25The Lord is good to those who wait for Him,

To the soul who seeks Him.

26It is good that one should hope and wait quietly

For the salvation of the Lord.

27It is good for a man to bear

The yoke in his youth.

28Let him sit alone and keep silent,

Because God has laid it on him;

29Let him put his mouth in the dust—

There may yet be hope.

30Let him give his cheek to the one who strikes him,

And be full of reproach.

31For the Lord will not cast off forever.

32Though He causes grief,

Yet He will show compassion

According to the multitude of His mercies.

33For He does not afflict willingly,

Nor grieve the children of men.

Lamentations 3:22–33 — New Century Version (NCV)

22The Lord’s love never ends;

his mercies never stop.

23They are new every morning;

Lord, your loyalty is great.

24I say to myself, “The Lord is mine,

so I hope in him.”

25The Lord is good to those who hope in him,

to those who seek him.

26It is good to wait quietly

for the Lord to save.

27It is good for someone to work hard

while he is young.

28He should sit alone and be quiet;

the Lord has given him hard work to do.

29He should bow down to the ground;

maybe there is still hope.

30He should let anyone slap his cheek;

he should be filled with shame.

31The Lord will not reject

his people forever.

32Although he brings sorrow,

he also has mercy and great love.

33He does not like to punish people

or make them sad.

Lamentations 3:22–33 — American Standard Version (ASV)

22It is of Jehovah’s lovingkindnesses that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. 23They are new every morning; great is thy faithfulness. 24Jehovah is my portion, saith my soul; therefore will I hope in him. 25Jehovah is good unto them that wait for him, to the soul that seeketh him. 26It is good that a man should hope and quietly wait for the salvation of Jehovah. 27It is good for a man that he bear the yoke in his youth. 28Let him sit alone and keep silence, because he hath laid it upon him. 29Let him put his mouth in the dust, if so be there may be hope. 30Let him give his cheek to him that smiteth him; let him be filled full with reproach. 31For the Lord will not cast off for ever. 32For though he cause grief, yet will he have compassion according to the multitude of his lovingkindnesses. 33For he doth not afflict willingly, nor grieve the children of men.

Lamentations 3:22–33 — 1890 Darby Bible (DARBY)

22It is of Jehovah’s loving-kindness we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not; 23they are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness. 24Jehovah is my portion, saith my soul; therefore will I hope in him. 25Jehovah is good unto them that wait for him, to the soul that seeketh him. 26It is good that one should both wait, and that in silence, for the salvation of Jehovah. 27It is good for a man that he bear the yoke in his youth: 28He sitteth solitary and keepeth silence, because he hath laid it upon him; 29he putteth his mouth in the dust, if so be there may be hope; 30he giveth his cheek to him that smiteth him; he is filled full with reproach. 31For the Lord will not cast off for ever; 32but if he have caused grief, he will have compassion according to the multitude of his loving-kindnesses: 33for he doth not willingly afflict or grieve the children of men.

We were not completely wiped out.

His compassion is never limited.

His faithfulness is great.

That is why I find hope in him.’

25The Lord is good to those who wait for him,

to anyone who seeks help from him.

26“It is good to continue to hope and wait silently

for the Lord to save us.

27It is good for people to endure burdens when they’re young.

28They should sit alone and remain silent

because the Lord has laid these burdens on them.

29They should put their mouths in the dust.

Maybe a reason to hope exists.

30They should turn their cheeks to the one who strikes them

and take their fill of insults.

31“The Lord will not reject ⸤such⸥ people forever.

32Even if he makes us suffer,

he will have compassion

in keeping with the richness of his mercy.

33He does not willingly bring suffering or grief to anyone,

let him be filled with shame.

the yoke of his childhood.

22The Lord loves us very much.

So we haven’t been completely destroyed.

His loving concern never fails.

Lord, how faithful you are!

24I say to myself, “The Lord is everything I will ever need.

So I will put my hope in him.”

He is good to those who look to him.

26It is good when people wait quietly

There might still be hope for him.

30Let him turn his cheek toward those who would slap him.

Let him be filled with shame.

31The Lord doesn’t turn his back

27It is good for a man that he should bear

The yoke in his youth.

Since He has laid it on him.

29Let him put his mouth in the dust,

Perhaps there is hope.

30Let him give his cheek to the smiter,

Let him be filled with reproach.
